Steve Dela started his interest in magic at a very early age after his uncle made a coin vanish and reappear right in front of his eyes!
To him, this is an early recollection of what seemed like 'real' magic. He was so fascinated that he pestered him until he taught him and even at this tender age, he practiced it regularly until he could do it well.
From here Steve's obsession for magic grew as he received more and more magic sets for each Christmas and birthday he had. By the age of 9 Steve was performing every now and again as part of a trio of clowns Bobo, Lorenzo and Ringo (Steve). “This was great experience as I learnt to develop a stage presence and voice from a very early age”
Since then Steve has gone on to win many awards and perform for many corporate companies and private parties.
In 2002 Steve was awarded the best newcomer cup at the Shropshire Magical Society (for which Steve is now their publicist). That year Steve also won the Geoff Ray Stage Cup and the George Shinton Close Up Trophy. He was the youngest person to ever win both awards and the first person to win them both in the same year!
Later in the year, Steve came second in the Young Magicians Club (Magic Circle Youth Initiative) Junior Close Up Championships. This drove Steve's determination to try again next year for first place.
“ I managed to put together a cup and ball routine to music that has helped me to achieve great things in magic, including in 2003 becoming the UK Junior Close Up Magic Champion' and most recently it helped me to achieve 3rd place in the ‘International Brotherhood of Magicians (British Ring)' Close Up Competition, 2004. My original Cups and balls routine usually follows a short card routine. I am very proud of this act.”
As a result of Steve's performance at the International Brotherhood of Magicians Convention, he was invited to attended the very prestigious 4F's Magic convention in New York State, USA. The 4 F's (Fechters Finger Flicking Frolic) is a close up magic convention by invitation only for the top magicians in the world and Steve's invitation made him one of the youngest ever magicians to be invited. He also made his Television debut by appearing on Blue Peter.
Steve has performed for the following clients:
The Magic Circle, Moat House Hotel, Hyatt Hotel, Dance Connection, HSBC Bank, Midland World Trade Forum, National Association of Head Teachers, RAF, The Rotary...and many private parties.
