Despite being one of the few successful women in magic, Lizzie (aka Dizzy Lizzie) has never been uncomfortable in the male dominated world of magic. Since she began entertaining full time in 2000, Lizzie has gone from strength to strength and has used the fact that she is a woman to her full advantage.

She claims “the main advantage is that as a woman and a mother is that I understand children and the needs of their parents better than any male entertainer ever can. Many mothers feel, rightly or wrongly, that their children feel more comfortable with an unfamiliar woman than a man, and as one of the few female entertainers around my diary is constantly full”.

Of course, it is not just being a woman that ensures a full diary for Lizzie. Lizzie offers a variety of fantastic shows suitable for all ages and occasions. “Bookers tend to come back year after year so I must be doing something right” she says.

Lizzie is definitely doing something right, she joined the Wolverhampton Circle of Magicians in 2002 and in 2004 was awarded the Williams Stevens Sheild for Best New comer. The same year, Lizzie was featured in national womens magazine Bella in an article featuring successful women in business. As a result of this Central News and all of the local newspapers ran articles on her ensuring more and more people learned of Dizzy Lizzie.

In 2005 Lizzie joined The Magic Circle, London, after the entrance examination the examiner stated that Lizzie is destined to become a top performer. Lizzie says “I do feel very proud of myself for being so successful in a relatively short time. The secret is easy - hard work, determination and a fantastic rapport with kids! My only regret is that I didn’t start years ago”

Although entertaining children is Lizzie’s first love, she is currently working on a just for adults, comedy, stand-up magic act. She is being helped by some of the best magicians in the business, so watch this space!
