Jon Marshall – tours the UK and abroad with Magic Carpet Theatre presenting children’s theatre performances and workshops in schools, arts and community venues.

One of the very first public shows Jon performed was for the Wolverhampton Circle Christmas Party held at the Black Horse Inn on 5th December 1960, later, in 1962, Jon joined the WCM and has been a member to this day.

Jon owes a great debt to his father and past WCM President, Stan Marshall, who stimulated Jon's interest in magic from an early age. He also feels indebted to many members of the Wolverhampton Circle who were helpful and generous during his early magical years. During that time, he forged long lived friendships, entered and sometimes won the William Steven's Shield and The Tony Shelley Cup and even did his bit by serving stints as Librarian and as Treasurer. Jon is pleased to have been able to keep in touch with so many of the present members who remain good friends.

After college, he studied Drama, Jon has never had a "proper job" always working in Theatre and Variety, in Theatre in Education and as Director of a Rep Company. It gave him an opportunity to involve magic and illusions in many of the productions and time to present his own acts. He has created cameo performances of historic magical personalities for the IBM British Ring Convention including Robert Houdin with his Ethereal Suspension, Stanley Collins and Brunel White.

Aside from touring with Magic Carpet Jon performs stand up, close-up and children's magic from time to time. His interest in Circus and outdoor attractions also led him to perform escapology routines including the Upside-Down Straightjacket Escape and later Blindfold Drives, a Gala act.

He founded "Mr Magic Entertainment Services" a booking service for magicians, children's entertainers and speciality acts for private and corporate events.

Recently he has restored several old Sideshow Illusions.

Jon is a Member of The Inner Magic Circle with Gold Star.

'Offstage' Jon collects old Hull Theatre posters and Pierrot postcards.
