The British Shield magic competition is awarded to the most entertaining act at the International Brotherhood of Magicians annual convention. It is probably the most prestigious magic award in the country.

The Ken Dodd Comedy Award is presented annually by Ken himself to the best new comedy magic act. It is probably the most prestigious comedy magic award in the country. Though he has the admirable quality of being able to laugh at himself, Alec is without doubt one of the best comedy magicians in the country revered by audiences and magicians alike.

He has a great mind for comedy which he takes very seriously and is a very versatile and funny performer.

A past President of the society, Alec puts an enormous amount of effort in putting together his annual Film and Theme night which is one of the most important events in the WCM calendar.
