The Wolverhampton Circle of Magicians is always happy to accept new members, however, it is also very keen to try and ensure that we welcome magicians who have more than a simple passing interest in the art and science of magic and are not just wanting to find out some secrets.

The procedure for joining is as follows:

1 - Obtain an Application Form from the Secretary or Membership Secretary (you can contact them directly from the Home page).

2 - Complete the Form, preferably (but not always essentially) with the names of a Proposer and Seconder who are already full members of WCM.

3 - Return the Form to the Membership Secretary together with your payment of £40 Subscription and £25 Joining Fee. The former is returnable if the candidate fails to become a Member.

4 - The Membership Secretary brings the Application to the attention of Council who, in practically all cases, recommend that the Applicant is interviewed by two Councillors and who report their findings to Council. The interview can take place before a WCM Meeting (but which the candidate cannot attend unless it is an Open Meeting) or at a convenient place.

5 - Assuming that the Interview is satisfactory, the Applicant is asked to prepare an audition which is to be performed before a closed meeting of Members (preferably on a Club Night i.e. no visitors or lecturers etc.).

6 - The quality of the audition is considerd by Council who can recommend that the Applicant is offered Associate Membership for six month period during which time he can enjoy the full facilities of the Circle but not enter competitions or vote. If the audition is not of the required quality, the candidate is asked to prepare another audition (with the help of his Proposer etc.) for a later date.

7 - After completing a six month Associateship and if the Council have no negative feelings, the Applicant is offered a Full Membership and takes his Oath to the Circle at a the next appropriate meeting.

This does mean that joining can be a lengthy process. It can take up to a year to become a Full Member - but it is worth the effort!!
